I believe you need to create a simple Legacy Contract Workspace Template. This template just have the overview tab (possibly custom header fields) and Team Members. You are not having any documents and not using any Tasks.
Read the migration instructions. You find them in Ariba under Help > Product Documentation. Administration Tab. Look for the pdf Contract Administration. Read page 10-32 (last I looked on sub section was repeated twice, just ignore that).
A few things to keep in mind
- You can only load 100Mb files at a time (I saw a post in here somewhere that it might be possible to ask Ariba to increase the limit for a while). You will need to calculate the size per contract and group contracts in to load sets less than 100Mb.
- You load a zip file in Ariba. The zip file contains 4 CSV files and the attachments.
- Filenames and many fields require alphanumeric so this needs to be fixed before you try to load.
When I did the migration I build an Access Database to keep track of the source system values and the Ariba values for meta data. That gave me the basic report for all the contracts.
I then built a few excel tools to create the 4 CSV files based on the reports and a tool to rename the source files into load sets and ensure they all were alphanumeric.
